"SONATE Nº 1 “AUGENMUSIK”. PAULA ANTA
PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE:
The images of the video Sonate nº1 “Augenmusik” K505 are structured according to the sonata form, composed of a ternary structure: exposition, bridge, development of the theme, bridge restatement and a final coda. The sound also follows this structure, combining the composition of new sound effects with the ambient sound of the place.
The effect that the Mozarteum in Salzburg had on me, the atmosphere, the light of the place, led me to imagine a sonata in a minor key, probably an A minor, so the coda at the end was added, where a small minuet for double bass was composed, thus reaffirming the main tonality of the sonata or translated into images, its aesthetic character.
These are really separate data that can give a more technical or anecdotal character to the video. Under the need to rely on my musical training I try to make a fusion of both fields but each one is free in their interpretation.
SYNOPSIS:
Music easily transports us to the world of images. Many times we hear sounds, songs, works, etc. and our mind is filled with representations that float through the clouds of our neurons. Perhaps this state is more difficult the other way around, that through an image melodies come to mind. But sometimes it does happen. There are sounds that have their fixed image. Not as a symbol of what they sound like, but as an emotion. They are no longer representatives of what makes them make that noise. These sounds carry emotions buried or hidden in our memory. They emerge to the surface as soon as they enter our labyrinthine auditory systems and take us to faraway places or lock us up in some bright room where imagination owns every wall. Does this sound too poetic? But isn't poetry what we drag in a judgmental way when having these feelings? Sometimes it's mysterious, but it's there and hides behind a side door after taking a look at the long sound corridor.
The piece “Augenmusik”, which means visual music, is full of corridors. In them you can walk slowly and let our ghosts ascend between pentatonic scales and make us feel their presence as if they were their own images. When we let them out, the voices float between the fluorescents and cross from one door to another along the entire length of the dark corridor. Life moves on and the voices mix as we continue to walk more and more loaded with the past. Simply you have to leave them free until they become visible and appear in the distance to descend the majestic stairs of the imagination.
