CASI UNIDAD
Felipe Barbosa
16 diciembre - 27 enero 2014
Calle Almadén 13, Madrid
The domestic aesthetic of Felipe Barbosa evokes the relationship between the industrial process and the intelligence of the readymade duchampian and of the serial object. Barbosa does not alter the visual capacity or nature of the object, but transforms it to generate other dysfunctional objects, formally unified as in a minimalist infinite structure. In this way, it reinforces the sense of the genesis of serialization.
The artist Felipe Barbosa (Brazil, 1978) exhibits for the second time in Spain. On this occasion all the works he has done for the exhibition "Almost Unity" were made from the same image._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d The house as an idealized space, a cliché image that we identify as the ideal of what a home would be. Using stencil ha construido the series of paintings that make up the exhibition. It is titled “Almost Unity” because despite the fact that the images applied were almost the same, justly distinguishes itself from the idea of home something private, intimate and particular. Superimposing various ink applications with a variety of colors, did not obtain the ideal image that we house as a home, but different interaction ideals.
One of the works that make up the exhibition is a sculpture made with 8 birdhouses entitled “Condominium”. In it, it is seen how a differences from the way in which birds build their homes, le is precisely interested in investigating the imposition of the architectural model submitted to the human model needs of nature.
The exhibition, in the words of Felipe Barbosa:
All the works I have done for the Casi Unidad exhibition for the Blanca Soto Gallery have been created from the same image. I represent in them the idea of the house as an idealized space, a cliché image that we identify as the ideal of what a home would be. I have built the series of paintings that make up the exhibition using stencils. The title "Almost Unity" is due to the fact that despite the fact that the images applied were almost the same as the idea of home, it is distinguished precisely for being something private, intimate and particular. Superimposing various applications of ink with many different colors did not obtain the ideal image that we harbor of home, but a superposition and interaction of different ideals.
Another work that makes up the sample is a sculpture made with 8 bird houses entitled "Condominium". Unlike the way birds build their homes, I use already existing models because I am interested in precisely investigating the imposition of the human architectural model subjected to the needs of nature.
