“LIGHT LOVE”. PACO MESA

 

The name of Paco Mesa should be present in the debate that will one day take place on current Spanish art, and should already be part of any of the modalities of critical or historiographical assertion on the present of plastic creation in this country. . Light Love, his exhibition at Blanca Soto, is based on a visual discourse that has the quality of being refined and precise as well as evocative and poetic and in which it maintains those coordinates of a certain brutality and insinuated violence quite characteristic of his works, while maintaining a rare and complete harmony between the merely physical and the conceptual. Using the dual as an obsessive metaphor for relationships and light as a complex source of significant possibilities, Light Love concentrates in four works (invitation card included) a discourse on the asymmetric duels, joint failures and collapses, the difficulty of synchrony, the possibility of opposites. Light Love, light and love, but also light love. In the installation Light Love, a wire fence prevents us from accessing two identical and parallel electrified slides, connected by cables while being illuminated by a garland of vervain bulbs.
