“LET THE DESTINY OF THINGS BE DECIDED IN SMALL PLACES” SANTIAGO TALAVERA 

 

The Blanca Soto Gallery presents the most recent works by Santiago Talavera, which make up a heterogeneous and hybrid map between drawing and painting entitled "Let the fate of things be decided in small places". The exhibition consists of a collection of drawings and paintings of different formats whose content is the imaginary landscape. In the images it can be seen that the exterior elements and some interior elements have been carefully and daringly manipulated, inviting us to contemplate through spongy and disorderly surfaces, unusual scenes full of excitement and a refined dream charge.

 

Santiago Talavera's interest in fragmentary spaces recreates in the works in this exhibition a strange universe, both tender and terrible, where the pieces that make it up have embarked on a path of risk. The objects are ambivalent: miniaturized, spilled by some unforeseen event or ready to be rediscovered. The scenarios could be models of a child, and what happens in them evokes a (sometimes) necessary disaster to readjust reality; a calculated chaos without risks, because we feel more at ease o  to the extent of our strength in front of a chess board than in plain sight, improbable and cumbersome, of the infinity of the universe.[…]
