The Blanca Soto Gallery opens on Thursday, January 14 at 6:00 p.m. the exhibition "The experimental cure" by the Italian artist Marco Tavolaro.

The artist Marco Tavolaro (Italy, 1984) exhibits for the first time at the Blanca Soto gallery, after being selected in Here and Now 2014, Fraud. This is his first solo exhibition in Spain titled The Experimental Cure, a project based on meditation.

Vipassana is a kind of meditation that does not admit verbalizations or visualizations, concentrating only on the "objectivity of individual perceptions." The mind, concentrated on one point, makes a journey through the body. The hand, acting as a seismograph in its exact correspondence with said point of attention, generates scratches on a previously varnished zinc plate. A map of the body is created, often discontinuous and deformed, enriched by the infinite range of experimentable perceptions, which are represented extemporaneously with undulations, discontinuous lines, vectors, expansion/compression geometric solids... An absolutely subjective and imperfect alphabet, changing, created in order to give shape to pleasure and pain, a what can only be seen with closed eyes.

Once the meditation is finished, the indications of the anatomical areas represented and a small summary, in the form of a list, of events prior to and simultaneous to the meditation are added to each work, to provide more information about circumstances that have affected (or not? ) the practice.

The performance  that each piece creates is considered an integral part of the discourse and the work. Therefore, a documentary about the entire creative process is in the editing phase.

Vipassana is a very peculiar kind of meditation focusing on the “objectivity of individual perceptions”. The hand, in its exact connection with the point of attention of the mind going throughout the body, moves on a waxed zinc plate acting like a sort of seismograph. It creates, then, a sort of map, often discontinuous and deformed, enriched by the endless range of experimentable perception, represented extempore with dashed lines, undulations, vectors, geometrical solids of temperature or expansion/compression, etc

An absolutely subjective and imperfect, changing alphabet that gives a shape to pleasure and pain, to what can be seen only with the eyes closed9._cc3b-14c780 136bad5cf58d_The final work, specifically an etching engraving, is inseparable from the performative act that creates it.
