Marco Tavolaro is a transmedia artist, also an illustrator, motion graphics designer, screenwriter and art director born in Italy and currently living in Madrid.

His expressive media range from drawing and digital animation, to land art, installation, video, writing, mapping  projection  and performance.

 

In 2010 he began to draw with both hands, giving visual representation to the functional characteristics of the two corresponding cerebral hemispheres, a practice formalized in the "Self-drawing Brain Project", winner of several awards  y  también  empleado  a  nivel “comercial” para  clientes_cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ as Ralph  Lauren, Chevrolet, or the Italian Ministry of Transport in their “TrasporTiamo” campaign on road safety, closed in December 2012 at the MAXXI, Museo Nazionale Delle   Arti Del XXI Secolo, in Rome.

 

At the same time, he has been developing performance and land art with the objective of investigating the distortion of perception, the systems of organization of knowledge and actions, the contrast of interests between people and authorities, freedom of expression.

The cultural weight of the current economic system is also analyzed, together with the ephemeral nature of art, knowledge and existence, in "The Apple Issue", a video performance performed on the stage of the Alte Saline _cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_  from the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg in the summer of 2012 

 

In order to deepen the relationship between body and mind, that is, between sensory organs, perception, mental images, movement control and representation, between 2012 and 2013 he participated in several Vipassana meditation retreats, an experience from which his latest work was born. project, "The Experimental Cure", creation of visual art in a state of meditation. first presented to the public in April 2013 at the MATADERO MADRID, within the event ZINC SHOWER

Said research has already begun to take complex forms, necessitating the use of new media, and transmitting this kind of experience to group dynamics through the CUPs or "Collective Unintentional Performances".

 

Recently, he has participated in the cycle of debates and conferences "Poetics of connectivity" of Medialab-Prado, in MATADERO MADRID, and was selected for the Advanced Training Program "Critical Practices" of 2013  and 2014 in Reina National Museum   Sofia.
